ZIV to provide ANDE with Smart Grid infrastructure

  • To install ZIV protection relays and automation systems
  • Part of Paraguay’s 220 kV & 66 kV network expansion and modernisation project
  • World Bank doubles investment for Paraguay

Zamudio, March 24, 2015: ZIV has been awarded with an important contract byAdministración Nacional de Energía (ANDE), the national electric utility of Paraguay to supply 10 complete ZIV Substation Automation Systems. The scope of the contract also includes engineering services, training and systems integration.

The project, financed by the World Bank, is scheduled to be completed in six months. In January, the World Bank announced a new cooperation strategy with Paraguay for the period 2015 – 2018, with an indicative amount between USD 1,000 – 1,100 million, approved in December and which is twice the amount of USD 400 million received from the World Bank in the past.

ZIV won this order against stiff international and national competition and foresees a close relationship with ANDE, as the country is committed to improving the reliability and capacity of the transmission and distribution grid. ZIV has recently supplied another lot of protections and meters, and last November signed a contract for the supply of eight single and three phase transformers totaling 420 MVA, for the expansion of the 220 kV and 66 kV electricity network.

Paraguay is a country rich with many natural resources and the production of clean energy is one of the most important activities in the country. Its generation capacity, coupled with the need to improve the distribution and transmission grid and the financial backup of the World Bank opens attractive areas of collaboration with technologically advanced companies such as ZIV. Commenting on these facts a company representative stated that they were eager to collaborate with ZIV.
